Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) is preparing Georgia’s students for their next step after high school–college, beginning a career, registered apprenticeships, or the military. Georgia CTAE pathway course offerings, and the new Educating Georgia’s Future Workforce initiative, leverage partnerships with industry and higher education to ensure students have the skills they need to thrive in the future workforce.
Select CTAE programs are offered in the Jackson County High School campus, including Family and Consumer Science (FACS) and Work-Based Learning.
The majority of CTAE programs are offered at the nearby Empower College & Career Center.

myAP Classroom:
-
Students should have joined myAP Classroom at this point.
-
Suggestion: It is highly suggested that students use their personal email addresses to create their College Board accounts. There are numerous issues that arise when students use school issued email addresses.
Please review the AP Exam Registration Process for Spring 2025:
-
Step 1: Students must join myAP Classroom and register with the College Board by indicating whether or not they intend to take the AP Exam. THIS IS A REQUIRED STEP FOR EACH AP EXAM. Students must indicate their exam decision by November 1 (fall semester) and March 1 (spring semester). On March 1st, the AP Coordinator will LOCK the exam decision indicator options and revert Undecided responses to NO, DO NOT ORDER AN EXAM.
-
Step 2: Students will need to register and submit payment via Total Registration (exams will NOT be ordered until full payment is received). The Total Registration link went live on August 19, 2024 and students have until Nov. 1st to register in Total Registration and submit payment.

The goal of the English Department at JCHS is to encourage and challenge each student to achieve not only a mastery of the ELA standards but a sense of confidence in their own communication strengths.
-
The goal of the ESOL language instruction educational program for our EL students is to increase both English language proficiency (ELP) and academic language proficiency in content-area subject matter. We focus on collaboration and shared accountability for the success of all EL students.
English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is a state-funded language instruction educational program for eligible English learners (ELs) in grades K-12 in Georgia public schools (Georgia School Law Code 1981, §20-2-156, enacted in 1985).
ESOL language instruction is focused on developing EL students’ academic English proficiency in each content area of the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE). The WIDA Consortium English Language Development (ELD) Standards aligned with the GSE guide the work of ESOL teachers. Differentiated instructional practices, both in ESOL and general education classes, ensure that the language development needs of our EL students are met.

The goal of the Fine Arts Diploma Seal is to create students who are prepared for college and career in these fine arts-related industries.
In Georgia, Fine Arts education includes the study of dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts.
The Georgia Fine Arts Diploma Seal and Career Pathways were developed for each subject area and are guides for planning high school elective choices. A wide variety of elective courses are offered at Georgia schools at the secondary level in dance, music, theatre, visual, and media arts and are chosen by local systems and schools to benefit their students.
In addition to classroom instruction, there are many activities that help students master Fine Arts content and skills such as local, regional, and national arts shows, performances, and contests. Community arts partnerships and arts integration into core curricular areas are also part of students Fine Arts education opportunities.

The JCHS mathematics department works to ensure that curriculum, instruction, and assessment are dynamic, rigorous, and considerate so that we can meet the diverse needs of students.
The department commits itself to developing and implementing a clearly articulated, coherent curriculum focused on important and meaningful mathematics. JCHS math teachers foster the development of problem-solving and reasoning skills through the use of mathematical models and multiple representations.
Students are provided the opportunity to demonstrate and apply skills, knowledge, and understanding in a variety of formats. Mathematical tasks are selected and implemented to engage students’ interest and intellect. Teachers continuously evaluate and revise curriculum to ensure mathematical ideas are connected and integrated across courses and between levels.
Teachers continuously create and implement assessments to monitor student learning and progress towards explicit learning targets, guide instruction, and support programmatic decisions as well as make appropriate decisions about the use of technology to enhance instruction and learning of mathematical concepts and proficiency. Curriculum reflects state and national standards.

The Modern Language Department is the place where students learn a second language, or improve their first- in the case of Spanish. Class offerings prepare students for college entry and give life long skills that can be used in the workplace and while traveling.

The Jackson County High School Physical Education Department strives for all of our students to value and maintain a health enhancing level of physical fitness throughout their lifetime. Therefore our curriculum is focused on the development of the attitude, knowledge, and skills necessary to achieve a physically active lifestyle.

The mission of the JCHS Science Department is to create a district-wide learning community and to support literacy through high academic achievement of the science learning standards. Science educators will present science concepts through inquiry and identification, descriptions and models, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation.
The Science Department stresses the importance of critical thinking and logical reasoning using various methods of investigation, such as observation, comparison, experimentation, and mathematical manipulation of data.
The Science Department is also committed to the concept that science has a practical application and has to be understood in a larger cultural context. It is through inquiry that students are able to view science as an interdisciplinary study applicable to society.
Science Department Vision
Science is taught through investigations, observations, data analysis, and rational explanations of natural phenomena. Emphasis is placed on the importance of critical thinking and logical reasoning in the pursuit of scientific knowledge because rigorous scientific instruction prepares students for the deep thinking associated with 21st Century skills. This is accomplished through all of our course offerings, including biology and physical science, both of which have a state-mandated end-of-course test, chemistry, physics, environmental science, human anatomy and physiology, and forensics. -
Social Studies is the study of the social sciences in order to lead students to become informed and responsible citizens. Our curriculum includes the study of humankind from the geographical, political, historical, and social perspectives. Our courses adhere to the Georgia Standards of Excellence for regular courses, approaches to teaching and learning for International Baccalaureate Courses, and College Board requirements for advanced placement. World History, U.S. History, Government, and Economics are required courses for graduation.
