The Jackson County School System has named its district Teacher of the Year, along with the system's Support Person of the Year and Bus Driver of the Year. 

The system's winners were announced as part of the annual Teacher and Support Person of the Year Banquet, which was hosted Thursday night inside the Braselton Civic Center. Jackson County High School's Alex Nichols was named the system's Teacher of the Year, while Erica Applewhite of East Jackson Elementary School was named the Support Person of the Year. Tracy Booth was named the Bus Driver of the Year. 

The annual banquet is hosted by the Human Resources Department and the JCSS Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit. Nichols received a cash prize of $2,000, thanks to donations made to the JCSS Foundation from Heyward Allen Toyota and Peach State Federal Credit Union. Applewhite received $1,500 for being named the system's Support Person of the Year, thanks to a donation from Peach State Federal Credit Union. Booth was awarded $1,250 following a sponsorship from Mark III Benefits. 

In total, 30 individuals were recognized during Thursday night's banquet.
