Kilgore Named GMEA District 14 Music Educator of the Year
Jackson County High School Band Director William Kilgore has been named the Georgia Music Educators Association's District 14 Music Educator of the Year. The announcement was made during a ceremony on Thursday in Athens.
In a release to Kilgore informing him of his win, GMEA noted Kilgore's support "of music education in your school has been commendable, and this recognition reflects the impact you have made as well."
Kilgore is widely regarded as one of the top music educators in the state of Georgia, with his high school band claiming multiple championships throughout the music season. Kilgore has been with the Jackson County School System since 2007, serving as the West Jackson Middle School Band Director. He moved to Jackson County High School in 2020.
